Indiana Medical Group Management Association (IMGMA)

ACMPE Scholarship Program
The IMGMA Scholarship Program is to assist Active Members in their professional development as Medical Practice Mangers and Administrators through the advancement of their education through the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE).

  1. IMGMA will provide two (2) scholarships per year.

  1. Scholarship Year: January 1 through December 31.

  1. Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00 per individual.

  1. The Board will review the financial status of IMGMA’s ability to fund the next year’s scholarship fund on an annual basis each May. In the event the Board votes not to fund the full amount of two scholarships, the Board’s decision will be announced to the members at the May meeting.

  1. Eligibility:


    1. Must have completed 12 months as an Active Member with IMGMA by the first day of the Open Application period.

    2. Must maintain Active Member status during the Scholarship Year.

    3. Must meet the requirements to be accepted into the College or, if currently a Nominee, must be in the process of attaining certified status with ACMPE.

    4. Eligibility is open to officers and committee chairs.

    5. A member is only eligible to receive one scholarship every other year. If a Scholarship is not awarded to the member, the member may apply each year.

6. Application Process:

  1. Applications shall be available through the IMGMA Administrative Assistant or the IMGMA website.

  2. Applications will be accepted from June 1 through August 1.

  1. Applications must be postmarked no earlier than June 1 and no later than August 1. Applications postmarked before June 1 or after August 1 will not qualify for eligibility.

E. Applications must be completed in full to be considered for a scholarship. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
7. Verification of Applications:

  1. Due to time constraints, the Administrative Assistant will review each application received within the Open Application period to check for completion and membership eligibility. If necessary, the Administrative Assistant will make reasonable effort to assist the member in completing the application.

  2. The Administrative Assistant will bring all applications to the September board meeting for board review.

  3. Board Review and Acceptance of Application:

D. All approved applicants will receive written notification of their approval by the Chapter President or by email, whichever preference was marked on the application and their eligibility for the drawing if applicable.
8. Drawing:

  1. In the event there are more approved applications than scholarships, a drawing for the two scholarships will be held at the Fall Educational meeting.

  2. Drawing process:

    1. The names of the approved applicants will be announced at the

Fall Educational meeting and will be placed into a drawing.
9. Payment of Scholarship Funds:

  1. The scholarship fund is based on completion of training; therefore, receipts for expense will be forwarded to the Administrative Assistant for approval by the Treasurer for reimbursement.

  2. Eligible expenses must be submitted to the Treasurer no later than sixty (60) days from the date the expense occurred. Receipts received after 60 days will be considered ineligible for reimbursement.

  3. The expense must occur during the Scholarship Year. Expenses cannot apply toward events that occurred in the prior year or prepaid expenses for events occurring in the following year.

  4. Receipts for reimbursement will be accepted until the last day of February following the Scholarship Year.

  5. Unused funds will be forfeited and will not carry forward.

  6. Eligible expenses for reimbursement may include: MGMA/ACMPE membership dues (application fee if applicable), CMPE tutorial fee, Essay Exam fee, Objective Exam fee, Presentation fee and travel to testing site limited to mileage at current IRS rates.

  7. The Treasurer with assistance from the Administrative Assistant is responsible for verifying eligible expenses and scholarship fund availability before reimbursement is made to the member.

General Guidelines:

A member of ACMPE

Minimum of two (2) years experience in health care management

Reference from an ACMPE Certified member or Fellow

Reference from the chief medical officer/senior leader in your organization

Approved by the IMGMA Board
