ASAP -TRAINING PROGRAMME ( 07-05-2015–28-05-2015 )

S.D. College National Service Scheme volunteers became a part in the ASAP training camp held at SD College Alappuzha. The camp which was held from May 7th to 27th was jointly organized by the Department of the English and NSS unit in the college. About 30 students from different colleges participated in the training camp. Volunteers assisted these days and it became a great success.

ENVIRONMENT DAY ( 05-06-2015 )

S.D. College NSS Unit conducted environment day celebration along with the inauguration of the activities of 2015-16 of the unit on June 5 at College Audio- Vision Room. The program was conducted under the presidency of Prof: Vineeth chandra K S and Dr. S Sreerenjini, NSS Program officers. College principal Prof: R Geethakrishna Pai inaugurated the function. Dr: S Ajayakumar, Dr: K H Prema and Dr: Jubilee Navaprbha spoke on the occasion. Volunteer Gayathri presented the annual report of the year 2014-15. Thereafter,Saplings were planted on the campus as part of the environment day by Dr: K G Padmakumar and Prof: R Geethakrishna Pai. There were also a seminar on the topic “One world one nature” by Dr: G Patmakumar, former director, Regional Agricultural Research Station Kumarakam.

BLOOD DONATION DAY ( 14-06-2015 )

S.D College NSS Volunteers participated in the blood donation camp conducted at Y.M.C.A Hall Alappuzha on World Blood door’s day. The camp was conducted by Alappuzha district blood donors association, Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust, Alappuzha Medical College Blood Bank and Alappuzha Women and Children Hospital. SD College NSS volunteers received the award for participating the second most donors in blood donation camps from the Honorable Home Minister Sri Ramesh Chennithala at the award distributing ceremony took place after the camp.


S.D College N.S.S Unit conducted a Quiz Competition on June 19 Reading day. The program were started at 1 pm at the college Audio Vision Room and it was handled by Commerce lecturer Prof: Nataraja Ayer. Many teams participated in the competition and the winners were Bhagavathy and Kasyap from the Commerce Department.

WORLD YOGA DAY ( 21-06-2015 )

S.D College NSS Volunteers participated in the seminar conducted by the Nehru Yuva Kendra on the World Yoga Day. The seminar was conducted on 21st June 2015 at Leo XIII higher secondary School Alappuzha. Students from many schools and colleges were participated in the seminar and the yoga thereafter.


S.D College NSS Volunteers participated in the speech competition conducted at Alappuzha Excise Office in connection with the Anti-drug day on 25th June 2015. Second year NSS volunteer Aswathy secured second position among many students participated in the competition from different colleges.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION ( 24-07-2015 )

S.D College NSS Unit distributed food on 24th July. Volunteers distributed food packets among the poor of Vandanam Medical College surroundings and others who were seen on road sides. The distribution was done by three groups of volunteers from 11am onwards. Volunteers also distributed food packets among the inmates of Alappuzha Municipal old age home under the leadership of NSS Program Officer Prof: Vineethchandra KS. The food were brought by the volunteers from there own houses. The volunteers were spent the day with the inmates in the home.


S.D College NSS Unit conducted a blood donation camp on 30th July 2015 as a tribute to our former President Dr: A P J Abdul Kalam. The camp started at 10am at the college library. Doctors from Vandanam Medical College leaded the blood donation camp. NSS Program Officers Prof: Vineethchandra K S and sDr: S Sreeranjini donated blood which made a set out to the camp. Around sixty students were donated blood. College Principal Prof: R Geethakrishna Pai distributed the certificates for the blood donors thereafter.


S.D College NSS Volunteers remembered Hiroshima day on 6th August i2015. A lecture was taken at the college seminar hall from 1pm. NSS Program Officers Prof: Vineethchandra K S and Dr: S Sreeranjini spoke in the class as an introduction. The lecture were taken by Prof: Tommy John from the Department of English. He talk about the history and the consequences made by the Atom bombs and commemorated the day also.

CAMPAIGNING ( 06-08-2015 )

S.D College NSS Unit conducted a campaigning to welcome new volunteers to the unit. volunteers were talk about the importance and advantages of NSS in the first year classes of various departments. The enrollment for the first year volunteers had started with the campaign.


A General Body meeting was conducted by SD College NSS Unit on August 07 at Golden Jubilee auditorium. To elect new representatives . The Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra K.S announced new secretaries and Joint secretaries. The following volunteers had been selected as new secretaries and joint secretaries.

SD College NSS Unit conducted a Kathaprasangam in related to Swatch Bharath Mission in association with Nehru Kendra Alappuzha. Thanneermukham Sadhasivan and team presented the kathaprasangamin Jubilee Auditorium.


As a part of activities in our adopted village “Moopans Colony” NSS Unit donate library to the Kalarkode Govt. U.P. School.About 300 books were collected by volunteers from both inside and outside the college. The programme was inagurated by principal Prof. R.Geethakrishna Pai. The motive behind the programme was to encourage the reading habits of students.


NSS volunteers took part in the Subramanyan Memorial Quiz competition organised by Department of Commerce, SD College. NSS volunteers Rahul.M and Vivek P.R won second prize in the competition.


SD College NSS Unit take initiative for fund raising for Red Cross Society by saling stamps. Around 250 stamps were saled by volunteers and 2500 Rupees handover to the College Principal Prof.R. Geethakrishna Pai.


Independence Day observed at S.D College under the active participation of National Service Scheme. College Principal Prof.R.Geethakrishna Pai unfurled the National Flag. About 100 volunteers participated in the flag hosting ceremony and sang the NSS songs andthe National Anthem. The vice principal delivered Indepedence Day message.


As a part of Indepedence Day S.D College NSS Unit made a friendly visit to a special school for mentally retarded children. The inmates of the school are mentally retarded, variying 25% to 90% retardation. There are seven such childrens are there. We spend the whole day in the school. NSS volunteers and inmates interchanged tokens of love and affection. College vice principal Nataraja Iyer inagurated the function. Ambalappuzha Block Panchayath President D.Sujatha participated in the function. Under the guidelines of Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra volunteers given Onakkodi and other necessary things and also shared sweets among them.After the delightfull onasadya volunteers performed various cultural programmes to enjoying them.


S.D College NSS Unit conducted a rally as a part of Independence Day celebration. The rally begins fom S.D college to disabled shishubhavan. Under the guidelines of Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra above 100 volunteers were participated in the rally.


SD Cllege National Service Scheme in association with Alappuzha District Collectorate conducted a quiz competition related to Swatch Bharath Mission in Jubilee Auditorium. The quiz competion inaugurated by College Principal Prof. R.Geethakrishna Pai. As part of this various videos clips related to Swatch Bharath Mission were presented under the guidelines of Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra K.S.


Onam is a time to show off our vast cultural heritage and rich variety of all keralites who celebrate it with much vigor than any other festival. SD College NSS Volunteers celebrated their Onam at the college Auditorium. The students were amidst great cheer and the cultural extravaganza witnessed a mass participation as never before in NSS. The programmes were arranged by the guidance of Programme Officer Prof. Vineeth Chandra and the co-ordination of each and every volunteers in the unit itself. The cultural programmes were started with the ‘Pookalam’ competition. Their were a lot of cultural programmes arranged by the volunteers. On 2pm, a massive ‘Onasadya’ were served for the students and the teachers. The meals were prepared by the volunteers itself and served the taste of happiness. After the great lunch,the main attraction was ‘Treasure Hunt’ which was prepared by third year volunteers.That was the best competition and was the most reviewed event of the year’s celebrations. Programme Officer Prof.Vineeth Chandra announced the winners of the competitions and gave most cherished prizes. Above 120 Volunteers were participated in the celebration.


SD College NSS Unit celebrated Teacher’s Day by donating plates and glasses for students of Kainakary Thottuvathala Govt. U.P. school. College principal Prof. R.Geethakrishna Pai inaugurated the programme. School Head Mistres Gayathri.R, Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra K.S, SD College Office Assistant Nandakumar were also presented in the occassion. The plates and glasses were distributed among about 100 students of that school. This activity was very helpful to those students who came long distance from the school.


S D College N.S.S unit cooperated with Snehakuttam arogyakuttaima to conduct a Programme on 12th august 2015. The Programme was conducted at municipal town hall. About 30 volunteers were participated the programme.


N.S.S unit celebrated the ozone day on 16th september 2015 and conducted an awareness class in association with Green Army. The class was conducted at Jubilee auditorium, above 50 volunteers were participated in the programme.

CRY (16-9-2015)

N.S.S volunteers collected the fund for poor girl children for their educational and medicinal purposes.The fund collected from all the students and department of college.

AWARD CEREMONY (17-9-2015)

SD College NSS volunteers were participated in the Award ceremoney held at Kerala University on 17th September 2015. Prof. Vineeth chandra K S received Special Award for Best NSS Programme officer and our unit got the special award for the performance in the academic year.

FOOD FIESTA (18-9-2015)

National service scheme of S D College participated in the Food Fiesta organized by commerce department on 18thseptmber 2015 .We got first prize for preparing a wide varieties of food items for the stall.


N.S.S volunteers were participated the rally conducted by “Dementia friends”. The rally was conducted on 21stseptember2015 as a part of Alzheimer’s day. The rally was started from alappuzha bus stand and reached to town hall.


National service scheme celebrated it’s day on 24th september 2015.Unit organized hatric celebration for winning special awards and also conducted ‘ASWATHY MEMORIAL QUIZ’ Competition for higher secondary students .Students from CHINMAYA VIDYALAYAM won the first prize.


S D college N.S.S unit cooperated with SNEHAKUTTAM AROGYAKUTTAIMA and conduct an awareness class on “life style and health”. The class were taken by SNEHAKUTTAM coordinator Sri.sajeevan, at jubilee auditorium. Above 70 volunteers were participated the programme.


N.S.S volunteers of S D college collected the fund for aids patients. The fund were gathered from both inside and outside of college. Around five thousand were collected by the efforts of volunteers.


N.S.S unit of S D College proud to host “I am a Dementia friend” state campaign. The class lend by Dr.Suresh (Department of Psychiatry, TDMC ) and Dr.Shaji (Department of neurology,TDMC) helped the volunteers to understand the unseen side of dementia. Prof.R.Geetha Krishna Pai (Principal, SDC) Inaugurate the function and Prof.Vineeth chandra presided over the function.


S D college N.S.S unit cooperated with women cell to conduct an awareness class on “Youth’s mental problems”. The programme was chaired by Prof: Geethakrishna pai and about 100 volunteers and other students were participated the programme.


The volunteer secretary keerthana welcomed the ‘I AM A DEMENTIA FRIEND’ state campaign by giving a tree sapling to the Distric Co-ordinator.


NSS volunteers circulated badges and notices as a part of awareness against dementia. This helped the volunteers in making an awareness about dementia and old age trouble in the society. Around 45 volunteers were participated the programme.

FOOD DONATION (1-10-2015)

NSS volunteers donated food at Kalavoor old age home on 1stOctober 2015. Around 30 volunteers were participated in the programme.

VAYOJANA DINAM (1-10-2015)

SD College NSS Unit conducted a programme on VAYOJANA DINAM in cooperation with Alappuzha Muncipality. Vayomitram activists collided with the unit to conduct the programme at Municipal Town Hall. Around three hundred grandparents in this programme. District Panchayat President Adv. U Prathibha Hari inagurated the function in presence of Distric Collector Sri. N Padmakumar IAS


NSS Unit of SD College conducted the GANDHI JAYANTHI Cleaning programme on 2nd October 2015. The programme took new initiatives in vegetable gardening. District Agricultural Officer gave instructions to the volunteers about mainting the garden through organic farming. Around 75 volunteers were participated the programme.


NSS Unit of SD College conducted a cleaning programme at Pazhaya Nadakkav Residence Association (PNRA), Kalarcode on 2nd October 2015 as a part of Gandhi Jayanthi Cleaning Programme. Under the guidelines of Programme Officer Prof.Vineeth Chandra K S, volunteers cleaned the whole area . The association members distributed the snakes for volunteers. Around 75 volunteers were participated the programme.


N.S.S volunteers of S D college participated the Civil Service Orientation Camp by Kerala University held at St.Joseph’s College,Alappuzha. Volunteers Jishnu D Kumar and Vivek P R participated in the programme.

ORIENTATION CAMP (10, 11,-10-2015)

The National Service Scheme of S D College conducted Orientation Camp during the 10th and 11th of October 2015. The camp was inaugurated by Block Panchayat President R.Sulekha. Programme Officer Prof. Vineeth Chandra K S delivered welcome speech and the programme was chaired by College Principal Prof.R.Geethakrishna Pai. Ex-Programme Officers Prof. S Ramanand, Dr.S Ajayakumar, Dr T R Anil Kumar felicitated the function. Volunteer Secretery Jobina Terasa Josey delivered vote of thanks. Around 170 volunteers participated in the programme.

The two day Orientation programme included many training programmes,games,cultural programmes,group activities and interactive sessions by many experienced faculties. The camp helped the new volunteers in overcoming their stage fear , building up leadership quality ,increasing self confidence and social commitment.


N.S.S volunteers prepared a stamp magazine and published on 10th October 2015 as a part of Postal Day. The magazine included many unknown facts about Indian and World Postal Departments. It also contains pictures and history of many rare stamps. The magazine was published by former Programme Officer Prof. S.Ramanand.


S D college N.S.S unit took initiative to start an yearly programme called “Karunyathinte Kaineettam” as part of World Women Child Day. Every year a deserving child from the ‘Adopted Village’ will be selected and will be provided with ‘dress and a study kit for his/her education’. The volunteers selected Neeraja as this year’s deserving child. Prof. Thomas Panakkalam handed over the meterials to Neeraja. About 75 volunteers were participated in the programme.


SD College of NSS unit conducted a drawing competition on 15th October 2015 as a part of Student’s Day. The competition was held at Govt.L.P.School,Kalarcode. About 90 young talents participated in the drawing competition.


S D college N.S.S unit conducted a campaigning on 15thOctober 2015 as a part of Student’s Day. The volunteers interacted with the students about the ‘Dreams of our former President A.P.J Abdul Kalam’. About 35 volunteers participated in the programme.


N.S.S volunteers conducted a campaigning on the importance of blood donation and circulated the blood donation consent form.


N.S.S volunteers of S D college participated the Speech and Essay Competition conducted by State Information Commission. Volunteer Aswathy S got First prize in Speech Competition and Second prize in Essay Writing.


NSS volunteers participated in the Anti-Drug Awareness Rally conducted by State Police Commission. The rally started from SDV Ground and ended at EMS stadium. About 45 volunteers participated in the rally.

ANTI-DRUG DRAMA (28-10-2015)

SD College NSS unit conducted an Anti-Drug Drama as an awareness to the young generation in cooperation with State Police Commission. The programme was inaugurated by the Vice Principal Dr.S.Nataraja Iyer. The drama and short film was interesting and about 55 volunteers participated in the programme.

BOOK FIESTA (6-11-2015)

N.S.S unit of SD College coordinated with ‘Snehakkoottam Arogyakoottayma’ to conduct a fiesta of books, seeds and fertilizers. The fiesta was held at Cream Corner Hall.


N.S.S volunteers Anand TB and Vishnu Kumar VB of S D college participated in the Cancer Awareness Class conducted by Kerala University cooperated with RCC. The programme was chaired by Kerala university N.S.S coordinator Dr S Venu Mohan.


S D College N.S.S unit participated in the ‘Clean The College’ and planted trees in the College as a part of Cleaning Day. N.S.S unit maintains a vegetable garden. About 45 volunteers were participated in the programme.


N.S.S volunteers of SD College participated in the Debate Competition conducted by Mathrubhoomi on 23rd November 2015 at Punnappra Carmal College. The subject of the debate was “Medias And Young Generation”. About 5 volunteers participated in the programme.

TURTLE WALK (25-11-2015)

NSS Volunteers of SD College participated in the ‘Turtle Walk’ programme conducted by Mathrubhoomi on 25th November 2015 at Chethi Beach. About 22 volunteers participated in the programme.

WORLD AIDS DAY (1-12-2015)

SD College NSS unit observed the World Aids Day by organising Red Ribbon campaign at College campus and kalarkode. Volunteers distributed red ribbons to principal Prof.Geethakrishna pai and vice principal Dr.S.Nadaraja Iyer as a part of inauguration.


NSS Volunteers of SD College participated in the world disabled day celebration on 3rd December 2015 at Alappuzha town hall. About 40 volunteers helped the disabled children who performed in art festival and sports item conducted on that day.


NSS Unit conducted a speech competition on 3rd December 2015. The subject of the speech was “VIGALANGA SAMRAKSHANAM NAMMUDE UTHARAVATHITHVAM”. The programme was chaired by programme officer Prof: Vineethchandra K S .Inaugural session handled by vice principal Dr.S.Nataraja iyer. Third year volunteer Sruthimol J, Najila Majeed , Vijayalakshmi got the first second and third prize respectively.


NSS unit of SD College collected food, dresses and other daily needs from the whole college and outside and distributed to the victims of Chennai Flood.


S D college N.S.S unit cooperated with Kottakkal aryavaidyashala to conduct a medical camp on 10thDecember 2015. Five Doctors were participated in the medical camp and it helps to clear the doubts among students about healthy issues.


N.S.S unit cooperated with Nehru yuva Kendra to conduct a speech competition on15th December 2015. The subject of the speech competition was “PARIOTISM AND NATION BUILDING”. The programme was inaugurated by college principal Prof: Geethekrishna pai.


District level speech competition were conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra in association with N.S.S at SD College Jubilee Auditorium. Elocution was on the same topic as conducted in the Sub-District level.


The National integration camp were conducted on 6th January to 13th January at Gulberg, karnadaka. N.S.S volunteers Anand T B and Vishnu H participated the camp as the representatives of SD College. The main aim of the camp was to integrate the student’s of different states.


The National youth festival camp was conducted from 12th January to 16th January at Raipur, chathisgarh. N.S.S volunteer Jishnu D Kumar participated the camp as the representative of SD College.

ANNUAL CAMP ( from 21-12-2015 to 27-12-2015 )

S.D College NSS Unit had conducted its Seven day Annual camp at Govt.H.S. Kakkazhom from 21th to 27th December 2015.Different classes and seminars which are helpful for the students to increase their knowledge and encourage them to perform them their abilities.The camp was fully organized with the joint co-operation of the school authority and Panchayath. All the programmes were successfully implemented with the whole hearted co-operation of NSS volunteers and general public.

Before the formal inauguration ceremony, all the camp settings such as water,toilet,kitchen,lightings,accommodation..etc were made for the successful and smooth functioning of the camp.

On 21th December 2015,the registration started at that Seven day camp had been officially inaugurated on 22st December 2015. NSS Programme officer Prof.Vineeth Chandra delivered the welcome speech and S.D College Vice Principal Prof.S Nataraja Iyer presided over the function. Hon.MLA G.Sudhakaran inaugurated the camp. Smt.Bindu Biju ,Sri.Chandramohanan K.C and formerprogramme officers Dr.S.Ajayakumar, Prof.S.Ramanad felicitated the camp.Volunteer secretary Kunari Anila K. Anil expressed the vote of thanks.

Prof.Vineeth Chandra gave instructions to all the volunteers about the camp. Afterwards there was an interactive game show led by Dr.Nataraja Iyer. Thereafter an interesting ice-breaking session.Volunteers were divided into different groups and each group selected their leaders. Then a career guidance session were handled by Dr. M Krishnan from SD College. Camp evaluation started at 10pm. Day's sessions were winded up by 10.30 pm.

The second day of the annual camp started by hoisting the NSS flag at early morning.Volunteers sung NSS song followed by the prayer. Thereafter Prof.Vineeth Chandra conducted yoga class for the volunteers.Morning session was led on the topic ‘Nature awareness’ by Shri.S.Sreekumar,Deputy conservator of forest . After that Prof.R.Indulal led a class about ‘Film and Violence’. Around 5pm, ‘Life Skills’ were covered by Shri. Thomas Wilson.

As usual,the third day of the camp starts with Flag hoisting followed by NSS recitation.Yoga class were started at 7am. Around 9.30 “Energy Conservation Awareness Rally”and a survey were conducted in association with Yuvasamithi alappuzha. The awareness class were led by Shri. Ejas.Survey covered around 67 houses near kakkazham.Afternoon session ‘Valayathe Valayaam’ handled by Shri. Thomas Panakkulam.After the class Prof.Vineeth Chandra arranged ‘Aerobics’as a part of entertaining .The last session on that day was a class on the topic ‘Social Awareness and Youth’ by Dr. S.Ajayakumar. Christmas celebration was the ever happiest moments among the camp days. Volunteers celebrated ‘Christmas night’ with colourful programmes and Christmas cakes were distributed.Fourth day of the camp ended with camp evaluation.

The fourth day of the camp starts with Flag hoisting.Volunteers sung NSS song.Yoga class was conducted as usual. After the yoga class, on that Christmas morning Fr.Berli Veliyakam arrived with the Christmas message of virtue and peace.After passing the message there was an official meet of former volunteers and programme officers and they get the opportunity to share their experience to the volunteers.As a part of this meet, Activity Reports of previous years were published. Afternoon session were handled by Kumari. Adila Kabeer on the topic ‘ Oru Linkethara Chintha’.Around 5pm, Sri.Punnapra Jyothikumar led an Interactive class with Folk songs.

The fifth day of the camp started with the usual routines. Followed by a ‘Vayojana sangamam’ in association with Kerala Social Safety Mission,Alappuzha. Volunteers get the oppurtunity to honoured and interact with the grandparents. Lunch with them was a memorable experience. Afterwards, ‘Sramadhanam’ (cleaning programme) and cultural activities were conducted.Programme of that day ended with the ‘Farewell party’ conducted by the second year volunteers.

Last day of the camp started with Flag hoisting.Volunteers sung NSS song.Then yoga class was held by Programme officer Prof. Vineeth Chandra.After that volunteers evaluated the camp.Programmes of each day of the camp were organized by different groups.Each group member actively participated in the activities inorder to make the programme better.Volunteers made a grand feast on the last day.Last part of the camp was the closing ceremony.College Principal Prof.R.Geethakrishna pai inaugurated and Prof.Vineeth Chandra presided over the function.Formal programme officer Dr.T.R Anilkumar distributed the certificates for the participants and the trophies for the best volunteers of the camp. Kumari. Vijayalakshmi and Najeem.S.Nazar were the best female and male volunteers respectively.N.S.S Volunteer Secretary Shri.Rahul.M expressed vote of thanks.

By the blessings of God, the guidance of our programme officers Prof.Vineeth Chandra and Dr.S.Sreeranjini and the active participation of the volunteers ,the annual camp of S.D College NSS Unit for the year 2015-2016 became a great success. Above 120 Volunteers were participated in the camp.


N.S.S volunteers took part in the cleaning process of the library on 15thb January 2016. The cleaning programme was inaugurated by Programme officer Prof: Vineethchandra K.S. About 50 volunteers were participated the programme.

REPUBLIC DAY (26-1-2016)

S D college N.S.S unit celebrated the republic day on 26thJanuary 2016. The programme was started by hosisting the flag by college principal Prof: R Geethakrishna pai. The college vice principal Dr.Nataraja iyer gives republic day message to the volunteers. About 60 volunteers were participated the programme.


N.S.S volunteers of S D college conducted a blood donation camp on 29th January 2016 at Jubilee auditorium. The programme was precided by college Principal Prof: R Geethakrishna Pai and was inaugurated by SBT Regional Manager G G Koshi. About 70 students were donated their blood for saving other’s life.

Wetland conservation seminar (09-02-2016)

SD College NSS Unit participated the wetland conservation seminar conducted by cherthala ST.MICHAEL’S college on 9thFebruary2016.

Around Five volunteers participated the seminar. The programme was so helpful for the volunteers to understand about wetland conservation.

Energy conservation seminar (19-02-2016)

NSS unit conducted a seminar in association with Energy management centre on the topic “Energy conservation” on 19th February 2016. The programme was inaugurated by Municipal chairman Sri.Thomas Joseph and the programme was presided by college vice principal Dr.S.Nadaraj iyer. PCRA officer Sri. Toms antony handled the keynote address on the topic energy conservation. The students were presented their presentation on Energy conservation. Around five group were participated , volunteers Aswathy .S and Sreelekshmi J S got first. 80 volunteers were participated in the seminar.

University Level Volunteer Leadership Training camp (26to28-02-2016)

Kerala University conducted a two days volunteer leadership training camp at Govt. College Karyavattom from 26th february to 28th february 2016. The camp was inaugurated by Kerala University Programme Vice Chancellor Dr.N Veeramanikandan and the camp was presided by college principal Dr.S.Ramdulari,felicitation was deliverd by Dr.K Anilkumar and Dr.varghese Perayil. University provided various classess for volunteers to improve their skills. Volunteers Sandeep.S.Kumar and Sreejith.S participated in the camp as the representitives of S.D college N.S.S Unit.

Self Defence Training Programme For Women(01 to 04-03-2016)

S.D College N.S.S Unit conducted self defence training programme for women assossiated with Alappuzha South Janamythri Police from 1st march to 4thmarch 2016. The programme was inaugurated by college principal Prof.R.Geethakrishna Pai and the programme was presided by Programme Officer Vineeth Chandra.K.S. Janamythri Police provided various training sessions for female students. The programme was helpful for the students to increase their self defence.

Nature Camp (14 to 16-03-2016)

S.D college N.S.S Unit participated in the Nature Camp conducted in Periyar Tiger Reserve,Thekkady. Bird watching and trucking were also a part of the camp and it helped the volunteeers to know more about nature. Volunteers participated in the seminar presentation and cultural programmes conducted there and it was a wonderful experience.

Debate competition(16-03-2016)

S.D college N.S.S volunteers took part in the debate competition conducted by Mathematics Dept. On the topic “Importance of women in democracy”. Many students were participated in the debate competition and N.S.S Volunteers Najila Majeed and Vijayalekshmi won first prize in the competition.

Aids Awareness Class(18-03-2016)

N.S.S volunteers organized an Aids Awarness Class in Audio-Vision Room at 1pm. The class were handled by Smt.Girija,Counciler and project co-ordinator of ‘WIHAN’ and as a part of this class, students got an oppurtunity to clear their doubts through the interaction. Above 70 volunteers were participated in this programme.

Kiran Memorial Speech Competition(21-03-2016)

Kiran Memorial Speech Competition was organized by S.D college N.S.S Unit on 21st march 2016. The programme was held at the Smart Room. College principal Prof.R.Geeethakrishna Pai had inaugurated the function. Above 15 students were participated in the competition. Najeem S Nazar,Sreelekshmi.M.S won the first and second prizes respectively.Volunteer Secretary Jeneeta Kuruvila delivered vote of thanks.


NSS Volunteers collected organ donation consent letter from students of SD College. Those forms were handover to district collector R. Girija by vice-principal Dr. S. Nataraja iyer. The programme was held under the guidance of programme officer Vineeth Chandra K.S. at Jubilee auditorium.


S.D College NSS Unit had given official sent off to Prof R. Geethakrishna Pai who served as our principal. Sent off meeting was inaugurated by upcoming principal Dr. S. Nataraja Iyer. Prof. R. Geethakrishna Pai received a momento from our side for his excellent services to our college. As a part of this day volunteer decided to gave a wheelchair to Master Akhil Vinayak, who is physically and mentally challenged. It becomes a huge support to his family.


National Service Scheme were took part in the Voter’s awareness rally in association with various social clubs on 30th March 2016. The rally were flag off by District Collector R.Girija. It starts from kalarkode junction and ends in Block Office at thookkukulam. The rally gaves a total awareness to the public about the importance of voting.


National Service Scheme published a souvenier named “KARMANI 2016”, which carries the journey of NSS in SD College from its birth. Alappuzha District collector R.Girija published the historical magazine, which was a milestone in our path of service. Also we were gave sent off to our final year volunteers. The programme was inaugurated by Hon. Dist.collector R.Girija on 31st march 2016 at jubilee auditorium. Dr.Anilkumar andDr.S.Ajayakumar former programme officers were attented the meeting. Lot of cultural programmes were organised by the volunteers and also gave medals to the final year students.
