The TRIO McNair Scholars Program is a graduate school preparation program designed to assist low-income, first generation, and underrepresented college students with developing the skills and motivation necessary to successfully pursue doctoral education. Annually, 25 Bemidji State Students participate in the McNair Scholars Program. (The federal government defines “underrepresented” to include Black (non-Hispanic); Hispanic; and American Indian/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders).
McNair Scholars is a TRIO program funded by the United State Department of Education and sponsored by Bemidji State University. The McNair Scholars Program and BSU are committed to the policy that all persons shall have equal access to its programs, facilities, and employment, without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or sexual orientation.
