FIRST LEGO League 2017-2018 Applications are being accepted for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) at Mitchell Intermediate School for the 2017-2018 season. FLL is a non-profit organization devoted to helping young people ages 9-14, discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering and math. Participants will learn how to master skills and concepts to aid in learning science and technology through innovative projects, teamwork and robotics competitions while gaining valuable career and life skills. For more general information about FLL please visit their website at www.firstlegoleague.org.
The Mitchell team(s) this year will be directed by Mrs. McLean. The season will run from September to late December. The teams will meet at least 2 hours a week. Depending on the team, students may meet both before and after school or for two hours after school one day a week. The competitions will take place on Saturdays. All team members must commit to participating. The teams will compete in a regional qualifier and possibly a regional competition. In order to keep costs low, students will need to have plans for their own transportation to competitions; transportation will not be provided.
There is a $100.00 fee involved with being part of Mitchell Robotics. The fee covers the cost of team registration, batteries, field kits, and EV3 bot parts. This fee will not be reimbursed to students who choose to drop out or asked to leave for behavioral reasons.
Participants will also be responsible for providing snacks for the team. A snack schedule will be created. Each team member will be responsible for providing snacks 1-2 times throughout the season for their team.

The above student has my permission to apply for the Mitchell Intermediate Robotics team, I
understand that it is important that my child attends all the meetings, has excellent behavior, is responsible for school work (passing all classes), and can attend the qualifier in November and possibly the competition in December; I will arrange transportation for meetings, and competitions.
