M&M Frosted Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top with prepared chocolate or white frosting and M&M candies.
Green Mint Frosted Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
Microwave about 90 seconds. In a separate bowl melt ¼ c. Guittard green mint chips for 1 minute in the microwave. Stir. Spread mint frosting mixture on cake. Garnish with chocolate sprinkles.
Carrot Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. carrot cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Slightly cool. Top cake with prepared cream cheese frosting.
Butter Pecan Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. butter pecan cake mix
1/3 c. water
½ t. powdered sugar
Microwave about 90 seconds. Slightly cool. Top warm cake with prepared vanilla icing and pecan pieces.
Lemon Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. lemon cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Dust warm cake with powdered sugar and add sprinkles.
Marshmallow Rice Treats:
Place in 2 separate bowls (large – 20 oz. cereal size) the following ingredients:
1 T. butter - 1 ½ c. crisp rice cereal
1 ½ c. mini marshmallows
Microwave butter and marshmallows for 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave an additional 15 seconds and stir again. Po9ur mixture over 1 ½ c. rice cereal and stir.
Banana Nut Bread Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. banana nut muffin/bread mix
1/3 c. water
1 T. chopped nuts
1 T. chocolate chips
Microwave about 95 seconds. Dust top with powdered sugar.
Candy Cane Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. white cake mix
1/3 c. water
½ t. peppermint candy cane (crushed)
½ t. powdered sugar
Microwave about 90 seconds. Drizzle with glaze made from:
¼ c. powdered sugar
2 t. milk
1 drop peppermint extract
Top with remaining half of crushed candy can.
Fancy White-chip Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. white cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top warm cake with Hershey’s white chips, chopped nuts, and chocolate syrup. Microwave an additional 10 seconds to soften chips.
Caramel Turtle Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top warm cake with: chopped nuts, chocolate chips, and caramel topping.
Cornbread Cake:
In a cereal bowl, mix together just until moistened:
- ½ c. cornbread/muffin mix plus 1 additional tablespoon of mix.
Microwave about 95 seconds. Smother with honey butter.
Applesauce Spice Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
Microwave about 90 seconds. Smother with applesauce (4 oz snack size). Serve with whipped topping.
Rocky Road Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Tope warm cake with marshmallows, chocolate chips, and chopped nuts. Microwave an additional 10 seconds to soften chips.
Cherry Chip Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. cherry chip cake mix
1/3 c. water
1 t. powdered sugar
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top warm cake with whipped topping and maraschino cherries.
Mint Chocolate Chip Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top warm cake with mint chocolate ships. Serve with mint chocolate chip ice cream.
German Chocolate Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. German chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds. Top warm cake with coconut, chopped nuts, and chocolate chips. Microwave additional 10-15 seconds.
Criss Cross Raspberry Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. yellow cake mix
1/3 c. water
½ t. powdered sugar
Microwave about 90 seconds. Dust top with powdered sugar. Criss-cross top of cake with raspberry jam.
Quick Cakes:
Strawberry Shortcake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
-1/2 c. yellow cake mix
-1/3 c. water
-1/2 t. powdered sugar
Microwave about 95 seconds.
Slightly cool
Top warm cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.
Snicker Bar Cake
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Microwave about 90 seconds.
Chop up a small snickers candy bar and sprinkle pieces on top of warm cake. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and microwave an additional 10 seconds.
Oreo Cookie Cake
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
Microwave about 95 seconds.
Sprinkle another crushed Oreo cookie on top and garnish with whipped topping.
Peanut Butter Swirl Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Swirl 1 T. peanut butter into batter. Microwave about 95 seconds. Drizzle with chocolate syrup.
Waffle Bowl Party Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Pour batter in to 7 oz. waffle bowl. Microwave about 95 seconds. Serve with shipped topping and party sprinkles.
Quick Cakes
Instructions:
1. Measure cake mix into cereal bowl.
2. Add water and stir for one minute.
3. Microwave according to instructions.
4. Add toppings to warm cakes.
Helpful Hints: Use Betty Crocker cake mixes or the Krusteaz mix as suggested in the recipes. These mixes provide better volume and texture for microwave cooking.
Stir batter for 1 minute until smooth.
All recipes can be made in cereal size boles. Plastic, paper, and foam bowls are great for easy clean up. The 20oz. size bowl works best.
Microwave cooking times can vary. Adjust time 5-10 seconds if necessary.
Molten Chocolate Cake:
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute:
½ c. chocolate cake mix
1/3 c. water
Top batter with 5 generous teaspoons of hot fudge topping.
Microwave approximately 95 seconds.
(cooking time will increase if fudge topping is cold)
Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.
Peaches-n- cream cake
Mix together in a cereal bowl and stir for one minute
½ c. white cake mix
1/3 c. water
½ t. powdered sugar
Stir in:
-4oz. diced peaches, well drained (snack size)
Microwave approx. 2 minutes 45 seconds
Criss-cross top of cake with prepared cream cheese frosting or serve with Cool Whip.
Orange-Chocolate Swirl Cake
Mix together for one minute in a cereal bowl:
-1/2 c. yellow cake mix
1/3 c. water
½ t. powdered sugar
1 t. fresh orange zest
Microwave about 95 seconds.
Slightly cool. Squeeze chocolate syrup in a spiral pattern on top and sprinkle with orange zest.
