MASS BROTHER TO BROTHER SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL AWARD INFORMATION
The MASS Brother to Brother Scholarship (B2B) is a component of Multicultural Academic and Support Services. The mission of the B2B Program is to increase the retention of male students earning baccalaureate degrees at UCF, thereby increasing prepared graduates to pursue graduate education or to help meet the future work-force needs of the global market. Program Goals are: To assist student in building academic skills; to foster leadership development; to enrich students socially; to promote career exploration and preparation.
AWARDS
All scholarships will be processed through UCF MASS. The B2B Scholarship Committee will review applications, verify completion of requirements, and make recommendations to the coordinator of the B2B Program for final selection and approval.
Grant funds will be equally divided amongst the total number of students who successfully complete the requirements. Award amounts are based on amount of qualified applicants and funds available. Awards will be processed after the posting of Fall 2017 grades.
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
A) General Eligibility:
Must be a Multicultural or First Generation Male (Neither parent or guardian has completed a Bachelor’s Degree within the United States)
Must be a part-time or full-time undergraduate student at UCF
Must have a minimum term or cumulative GPA of 2.75
B) Scholarship Requirements:
1. Complete 6 MASS/Brother to Brother Workshops by the scholarship deadline
2. Complete one (1) MASS Lunch and Learn
3. Complete the MASS Brother to Brother Scholarship Application. YOU MUST INCLUDE:
Current résumé
A list of all the MASS workshops you attended (please make sure you keep track of each of the experiences attended)
Two (2) essays, no less than 300 words and no longer than 2 pages:
Biographical Essay: Tells us who you are. Please explain some of the challenges you have faced and how you have overcome them, as well as your educational and career goals
B2B Experience Essay: How has your experience with the UCF Brother to Brother Program impacted you and how you plan to impact the UCF community through your knowledge and experiences
Recommendation Letter - Must be issued within the current academic year. Preferably written by a UCF faculty or UCF staff member. All recommendation letters must be written on department letterhead with the recommender’s contact information and signature at the bottom.
Return the completed application to MASS, Student Union Room 154, by December 1, 2017 at 5 PM.
