Bal Bhawan, Mohali

The Councils is running a State Level Bal Bhawan at S.A.S. Nagar since 2002. The main Objective of Bal Bhawan is to cater for the all round development of children in the age group of 06 months to 18 Yrs. At present Bal Bhawan is running various activities like Creche Centre, Library, Dance classes, English Speaking, Computer Class and Beautician Class. Children from different schools are getting benefit as there are various inter-school competitions organised by Bal Bhawan Mohali. The following activities were carried out in the Bal Bhawan during the year :-

CRECHE CENTER

A crèche centres is being run in the premises of Bal Bhawan for the children of working mothers. There are 25 children in the age group of 06 Months to 10 Yrs. Creche is a second home for children. They are being looked after like a home. The play way activities are going on in the crèche. A number of toys and educational games are made available to the children. Facilities like separate toilets for small children, clean & safe environment is provided to the children. There is a separate room, when children sleep in the afternoon. The room is fully equipped with coolers, mattresses and clean bed sheets.

COMPUTER CENTER

In the computer centre 3 months, 6 months certificate course in Basic Computer Education and one year diploma courses are conducated. During this year 88 students got trained in these courses.

LIBRARY

Around 150 members have been enrolled in the library. Many books have been donated by Mr. D.S. Juneja Administrative Officer, Bal Bhawan Mohali for the Library.

HOBBY CLASSES -:

Various Hobby classes are being run in the Bal Bhawan viz Dance Classes, Beautician Classes, English Speaking Classes, Karate Classes etc. During the year 2015-16, 4 students learnt dance & 30 students in Dance Class got trained in Beautician class. Ten students attended English Speaking Classes during the year. 26 students got enrolled in the stitching class and 2 students attended Karate Classes.

SUMMER CAMP

A Summer Camp was organised at Bal Bhawan, Mohali From 28^thMay 2015 to 13^thJune, 2015.

Children from the age group of 4yrs to 16yrs showed their creativity in various styles of Aerobics, Karate, Fun Games, Exploring the Creativity through Drawing and Painting Competition, Bhangra, Westren Dance and Learning Craft items from waste material. Around 26 students participated in this camp.

Dr. Manmohan Kaur, Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Pritam Sandhu, Secretary, Child Welfare Council, Punjab visited during the Summer Camp. They interacted with the children and appreciated the items presented by children. A function was organised on the concluding of the Summer Camp, wherein children presented items, which they learnt during the Summer Camp. Certificates were given to all the participants.

Lohari Celebration: - Bal Bhawan Mohali celebrated Lohri for the Children of Crèche Centre in co-ordination with Anganwadi Training Center Mohali. All the staff members of Bal Bhawan & AWTC were present on the occasion. Gachak & Moongphali was distributed to every one on the occasion.

New Year Celebration-: A function in connection with New Year was celebrated by Bal Bhawan, Mohali on 1^st January, 2016.

Training Programme

The State Council is running five Anganwadi Workers Training Centres, located at Mohali, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Faridkot. These centres impart training to the Anganwadi workers engaged under the ICDS Schemes in the State of Punjab. The trainees are deputed by the Directorate of Social Security and Women & Child Development, Punjab.

Workers engaged in the Union Territory of Chandigarh under the ICDS are also trained in these centres. The entire expenditure on these training centres is met out-of the grant released by the Govt. of India through the Social Security and Women & Child Development Department of the Punjab State Government. The number of workers trained during the year 2015-16 in these centres is as under:-
